Autumn and winter are the ideal seasons to visit Egypt when the weather tends to be mild. Temperatures vary between 60 and 80 Fahrenheit, though evenings tend to be cool. The summer months tend to be hot and range between, 80 - 105 Fahrenheit during which the air is dry and humidity low.

Arabic is the official language, however most Egyptians speak and understand English and French.

What to wear

Egypt is an Arab country but open to western practices and therefore does not impose certain dress restrictions, however when visiting mosques or villages it is recommended that guests are modestly dressed.

Getting around in cities in Egypt is best done with taxis; a local bus service does run in major cities but tends to be unreliable

Currency

The local currency is the Egyptian pound and foreign currencies can be easily changed when in Egypt.

Visa Requirements

Most travelers obtain their Visa upon entry to Egypt. Some need to apply in advance. Certain countries are exempt from visas. Tourist visa is valid for 3 months. Check with Egyptian consulate for updated info.
